Translation

May a mouse never leave your girnal*
With a teardrop in his eye.
May you always keep hale and hearty
Till you're old enough to die.
May you always be just as happy
As we wish you always to be.

*A girnal is a storage chest for meal and oats.

Theatrical Scottish Toast
Delivered while standing on a chair with one foot on the table. After the toast is given, the drink should be downed in one and the glass smashed.
Here's tae us;
Who's like us?
Damn few,
And they're a' deid!

Slainte!
Gaelic for "cheers," "skoal," "prosit," or the like. After a toast is given, all raise their glasses and respond "Slainte!" (slawn-cha).

Some hae meat and canna eat,
 And some wad eat that want it;
But we hae meat and we can eat,
 Sae let the Lord be thankit.

Translation
Some have meat and cannot eat,
 Some cannot eat that want it;
But we have meat and we can eat,
 So let the Lord be thanked.
